Basically a palette limited to just two colours: A rich full bodied (red wine) mauve ground that conveys hints of browns and greys within - and a loud, fiery fluroescent sugary pink.
Dayglo paints are often semi translucent and really work to their loudest and most effective when applied onto a solid white base. It is here, where I decided to add and extend areas that the white and subsequent pink over it that some of the three dimensional layering effect is best attained.
A successful painting to me is usually achieved when I've known exactly when to stop. In this particular instance I think I must have reached that decisive moment on at least three occasions!
Completed in November, 2009.
